WW1 MEMORIAL SERVICE AND WREATH LAYING CEREMONY
The Parish Council in conjunction with local groups organised the memorial service and wreath laying that took place last Saturday 26th July 2014.
The proceedings started with the unveiling of the memorial plaque on the Jubilee Clock which commemorates the sacrifice made by the local community in the First World War . This was followed by a short prayer by the Area Dean Rod Cosh. A bugler then played the “Last Post”, after which a 2 minute silence was observed, followed by “Reveille”.
Wreaths laying took place and were laid as follows
St. Thomas Church
Colnbrook Residents Association
Over 50’s club
Colnbrook Community Association
After the Wreath Laying Ceremony everyone moved to St Thomas Church for a Memorial Service conducted by the area Dean Rod Cosh. It was a wonderful order of service which was balanced and sensitive to the occasion.
At the end of the service everyone gathered for refreshments in the garden of the church.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank each and everyone of you for your help in making saturdays event such a huge success. When we started, the whole concept was to get the community together and organise something special. This we achieved because the Parish Council, St. Thomas' Church, The Colnbrook Residents Association, the Scouts, Colnbrook C of E School, other organisations and individuals came together and put in a team effort.
