Parish Contact Details Change Following the Retirement of Roland Hewson    August 26, 2014

Parish Clerk/Finance Officer to Retire

After nearly twenty years as the Clerk and Finance Officer to the Parish Council Roland Hewson has decide to retire from the Office. Therefore, the Parish is very grateful to Roland for his help and advice over the past years in ensuring the smooth running of the Council. We would wish him and Kathy all the best for the future and we shall always be in his debt.

WW1 Memorial Service and Wreath Laying Ceremony    July 28, 2014

The Parish Council in conjunction with local groups organised the memorial service and wreath laying that took place last Saturday 26th July 2014.

The proceedings started with the unveiling of the memorial plaque commemorating the sacrifice made by the local community in the First World War on the Jubilee Clock which was followed by a short prayer by the Area Dean Rod Cosh. This was followed bugler playing the “Last Post”, followed by 2 minutes silence which was then followed by “Reveille”.

Wreaths were then laid as follows

  • Parish Council
  • St. Thomas Church
  • Royal Engineers
  • Colnbrook Residents association
  • Over 50’s club
  • Colnbrook Community Partnership
  • Colnbrook School

After the Wreath Laying Ceremony everyone moved to St Thomas Church for a Memorial Service conducted by the area Dean Rod Cosh. It was a wonderful order of service which was balanced and sensitive to the occasion.

At the end of the service everyone gathered for refreshments in the garden of the church.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank each and everyone of you for your help in making saturdays event such a huge success. When we started, the whole concept was to get the community together and organise something special. This we achieved because the Parish Council, St. Thomas' Church, The Colnbrook Residents Association, the Scouts, Colnbrook C of E School, other organisations and individuals came together and put in a team effort.

At 12.300 it was all back to the Village Hall for lunch with sandwiches, savourys and drinks supplied by Asda, The Hilton Hotel, Tesco at Cowley and some superb onion bargies and samosa’s provided  by Parish Councillor Safia Akram.

Then it was back to work clearly and tidying even moore area’s. Everyone gathered back at the village hall totally exhausted but extremely pleased with their efforts for the parish. Then it was home for a well deserved  soak and a few beers.

Changes to reporting on-line fraud    November 26, 2012

From 3 December 2012, all reports of fraud in the Thames Valley will be recorded by Action Fraud and individual police forces in the south east will no longer take any fraud reports. They will now be recorded centrally by Action Fraud.

If you want to report a fraud, please call the number above (0300 123 2040), or visit the Action Fraud website at www.actionfraud.police.uk

Thames Valley Police will continue to respond to reports of frauds in progress, but any other calls to report a fraud, including financially motivated e-crime, will be referred to Action Fraud. When a person calls to report a fraud, they will be provided with the Action Fraud phone number or website address.

The new process will have a number of benefits for victims of crime, including having a central point of contact to report all fraud; an effective and efficient way to bulk report fraud; and an increased chance of identifying repeat and vulnerable victims.

News from the Thames Valley Police Alert Information

The scheme has already been piloted successfully in five forces, and will be rolled-out nationwide by March 2013.

Action Fraud has produced a leaflet about the changes, which has been attached to provide more information about the scheme.

You may be aware, cancer kills more people throughout the world than any other illness: one in four of us will contract cancer during our lifetime and one in three of us will die with cancer. No-one likes to think that they will need the services Marie Curie can offer, but, our Nurses provide end of life care and support to around 31,000 terminally ill patients and their families every year, enabling patients to die with dignity surrounded by their family and friends.

Making a success of campaign like this will enable us to continue our incredible Nursing Service, provided FREE OF CHARGE to those who need it.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this e mail and I look forward to being in touch with you soon.
